Marine chronometer kept in a portable, double square wooden box with a leather strap. It includes two circumferences, with Roman and Arab numerals. The marine chronometer is a high-precision instrument, essential for calculating longitude by comparing the time in one place with the time at the Greenwich Observatory in London.
