In 1895, several expeditions of troops from the Iberian Peninsula were sent to Cuba. In the seventh, 21 battalions made up of 140 soldiers each were sent. Troops were boarded at different ports on the peninsula like Cadiz, Barcelona, Valencia, Santander or Corunna.
