Since 1989, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona has published Drassana magazine, one of its main tools for communication and promotion. Published annually, this magazine has gone through three different periods in terms of its design and objectives. Since 2010, Drassana has been the main mouthpiece of the Permanent Observatory on Maritime Culture and History of the Mediterranean, a collaborative tool shared by the Maritime Museum of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona to promote research on maritime culture.
Drassana accepts studies on maritime culture and history. Within maritime history, it has a global reach with a focus on the Mediterranean. It also focuses on the social sciences from a multidisciplinary point of view. The central pages of each edition contain a feature article.
